WORLD CITIZENS PARTY
FOR A
DEMOCRATIC WORLD GOVERNMENT
Dear World Citizen,
This mailing is going to long-time members and friends, and also to some
additional individuals we believe will be interested. For benefit of the latter, we
enclose a brochure along with the other material.
We hope that everybody will browse in our website at www.worldcitizensparty.org .
Topping our homepage is our statement on this September’s United Nations summit conference on UN reform. It looks at Kofi Annan’s proposals for adoption
by the conference. We
won’t oppose them; but we are hugely
unimpressed.
It’s truly shocking that so little is to be publicly considered at a time of unprecedented crisis in human affairs -- a time of environmental degradation and
climate change, new instruments of destruction in the hands of fanatical
individuals and irresponsible governments, a time of generally falling standards of
living, ever spreading poverty and starvation. Human existence on this planet
may well be in the balance.
We look at our innocent children in their schools and playing fields, the young
people in their colleges. What kind of world will face them in their maturity? Deep
in our hearts, we know we are not exaggerating. Just turn on the evening news.
Our party believes that the immediate business of the UN is to convert itself
into a genuine democratic government capable of addressing the global situation.
Democratic government at the world level may not be able to solve all the current
problems; but it is one approach that has never been tried. It may be an essential tool
that is now missing in the repair kit of spaceship earth.
And our immediate business, as world citizens, is to call upon our leaders
at the summit to think beyond their present limited agenda. They must create a
basically restructured world, with liberty, justice, and representation for all.

WE ARE GOING TO HOLD A VIGIL !
The Vigil will be at Quincy City Hall Plaza, 5:00 -- 6:00 PM, on Monday, September 12.
It will not be a “silent vigil”. We will talk with people who ask about our
posters. (But no public speaking. No soap box orators.) We will hand out flyers.
There will be a small table for literature, bumper stickers, and membership forms.
Our vigil will be in the dignified, non-violent tradition of
the
village square.
People are really encouraged to bring their own posters. Please note the
enclosed samples of posters on our basic themes. We will bring some half dozen
posters, and also some extra poster sticks and a staple gun.
Please return the response slip, or call us.
